2013 Railfans Trip Across Malaya (Malaysia and Singapore) Part 6 of 20

Despite the limitation in my uncle and aunt flat, we still enjoyed our stay over there. Although we didn’t enjoy first class accommodation (in fact, we slept on the floor!), but we still able to enjoy our stay.

My uncle invited me to take a spin around the neighborhood with bicycle. I accept his invitation, while my brother choose to stay at home. This is the first time that I drove or ride something in Singapore.

My uncle leading the way, and took us to the blocks around his flat.

6-1

I am really amazed by the way they maintain cleanliness in the public area around the flat.

6-2

Although this area is catered for lower middle class, it is still looks very tidy.

6-3

Despite of the narrow space between the building and the highway, they still doing a perfect landscaping work.

6-4

6-5

Along the way, we took some diversion due to MRT construction.

6-6

So we took this way to go to Bedok reservoir lake.

6-7

Despite the presence of construction site to the right, it doesn’t reduce the beauty of this area urban landscape.

6-8

The head already makes me sick. So whenever there’s a convenient shop, or vending machine, I’d stop to buy drinks!

My uncle guiding me to cross the busy street, before we final y arrived at one park.

6-9

This park is located next to the Bedok lake.

6-10

Although not designated as major tourist area, this park is perfectly maintained.  Even better than some tourist places in Indonesia!

6-11

6-12

We took a brief rest in this park.

6-13

I am quite amazed by the effort put by the local government to make this park so tidy like this.

6-14

They even put information center in the middle.

6-15

6-16

My uncle said the area has increasingly become and upmarket area. Several HDB flats which were originally built for middle or lower class residence has either been demolished or rebuilt into hotel or upper class condominium. Most of them are the ones that facing the lake.

We also trying the newly built bike track, which is built slightly further from the lake, but incorporating easier gradient.

What amazes me about this bike track is the presence of toilets, complete with vending machine in it.

6-21

We pedaled further.

Now the track become slightly hilly.

6-28

And the gradient become steeper.

6-29

So I had to push my bike to climb.

6-30

However, the view from the top is beautiful.
